We have finally rolled out the new forum software. It is a major overhaul from the old version. It has a lot of new exciting features that we hope our users will enjoy.

We have also introduced a snippet submission system similar to what hawkee.com uses. It was coded 100% from scratch so in all fairness this is still considered in it’s beta stage.

If you will notice that at the bottom of tg007′s main page there is a popup div using jquery. I have included an alert system. Rather than having to open the file to add new alerts I added an alerts section to the tg007 control panel.

Thanks to Haggis’s email I was notified the dev blog was throwing up an error because i had made some changes to the top menu file and didn’t remember to account for it in the blog. That has been fixed and the sidebar has been changed to be more in line with the main site’s sidebar. Things are progressing very well with the new system. I have very happy with what we have so far. In the coming weeks I hope to add some of the new features I’ve had in mind for a long time. Hope everyone enjoys the new look and keep and eye out for more.

I have updated the dev blog theme to match the current beta version of the site. There are still a few links to work out and then I plan on starting the theme for the forum. Hopefully once finished it will all look pretty much identical. Hope everyone will enjoy the new site. There will be several new features launched once I get everything in place. As always your comments and ideas are most welcome.

Due to the upcoming release of IPB v3, I have been creating a new layout for tg007.net. I wanted something a little more cleaner and faster. I took a less graphics intense approach this time.

So far the progress has gone well and the people that have seen the layout have had mostly good things to say. If you are reading this you have no doubt noticed that the layout for the dev blog has changed as well. This is more inline with the new layout I am working on for the main site.

There is still lots to be done and I will try to keep the few people that actually read this updated on the progress . So if you are interested in what the new site will look like, then I would suggest checking into the dev blog once in awhile.

I use the database to present some pages because it’s just easier to deal with. At one time I was using a Mod for Invision Power Boards to add simple pages to present info on various IRC information. I really wasn’t happy with how it worked and rather than edit something that could break again in future forum updates I decided to make my own system.

Each page has a link that only the admin can see that allows you to pop up a window in which you can edit the page’s html coding. I only use this method for a few information pages that do not require extra php coding.

Features:

Quick launch link directly from the page you want to edit.

Auto insertion of links to menu on creation

Alert popup to ensure you really meant to update the page.

Ability to delete the page

On submit the window refreshes the information and the page refreshes as well.

Here is what the process looks like
